Liftoff at 2:2814am EDT

Sunrise the day before launch!

RSS rollback about 8:45am the morning before launch.

How many birds do you see in this photo?

The view from the KSC Press Site about 3 miles away from Pad39A. at + 8 seconds.

One bird takes off while another gets ready to land!

Nothing can describe or capture a shuttle launch at night! Night turns into day!

At 26 second into launch the shuttle enters a 6,300 ft ceiling.

One interesting effect of an overcast launch is that you can see the light from the SRB's move northeast along the shuttles flight path.

Before they were in orbit I was tearing down equipment and changing my flight to get back to California
for the inaugural launch of the Atlas 5 NROL 28 from Vandenberg AFB.
After retrieving all 6 remote boxes from around the pad it was 6:30am and a mere 47.5 hours until the Atlas 5 launch!
