Following in the footsteps of sci-fi heroines Joanna Dark, Samus Aran, and Dark Angel's Max comes Vanessa Z. Schneider, a freelance mercenary with a troubled past. Schneider is called into service when a planet's Computer Arms Management System (CAMS) goes haywire and starts attacking the residents. For Schneider this is more than a routine assignment; her family was brutally murdered by the CAMS when she was just a child. Equipped with a high-powered laser gun, the mercenary vows to destroy every robot on the planet -- regardless of the odds or the personal cost to her. The game is played from a third-person perspective as players venture forth across the desert-like terrain forming the planet's surface and inside the corridors of space stations and other buildings. Controls are reminiscent of many survival horror titles, in that pushing left or right on the Control Stick rotates the character's orientation. Schneider can also take cover behind walls or other objects, flip from side to side, and perform somersaults to escape oncoming blasts of energy from the murdering machines. Shinji Mikami, creator of Capcom's Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, and Devil May Cry franchises, directed the game.
